--- Mamee Applies the SANGFOR IAM, WANO, and SSL VPN Solution

Mamee-Double Decker's unique brand of high quality underscores the success they enjoyed today. Incorporated in 1971, Mamee began production a year later with a single product. The company is now listed on the main board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, reflecting strong development over the years. Mamee-Double Decker received the Melaka Industry Promising Local Company Award in 2003, and was featured in the TOP 100 Listed Companies Year of 2005.
Information Status
Mamee has taken a consistent approach to optimizing its information systems. Currently, Mamee has two main branches in Malaysia, which connect to the head office through a private line and access the Internet through the HQ’s uniform Internet exportation. Mamee’s information system includes OA, mail, and marketing systems, which combine to boost the company’s business performance. However, rapid development has created a bottleneck to the information systems that even restricts business development.
Challenges
1. All the Mamee staff goes online through the head office’s uniform Internet exportation. The high number and scattered location of the company’s intranet users raises requirements for a cohesive management system to control Internet access. Some employees browse web pages and use web applications that are not related to the work, which lowers work efficiency. Moreover, the use P2P software swallows a high proportion of network bandwidth, which in turn slows the network and can even affect critical business applications.
Mamee requires a solution to manage online behavior, reduce non-work related network activities, restrict network bandwidth for recreational applications, and guarantee bandwidth for critical business applications. It is also necessary to record and audit online behavior to facilitate effective administrator management.
2. The Mamee intranet has deployed various systems including OA, mail, and marketing. Rapid business development requires greater access to internal application systems, including remote access. The demand for information system applications has extended from the LAN to the WAN. Mamee needs a secure remote access solution to construct a remote office platform for employees.
3. With the greater penetration of application systems, the interaction between data from head office and branch has increased in frequency. Data traffic on the dedicated line has risen dramatically, resulting in slow system access, which lowers employees' working efficiency. Mamee needs an efficient and economic acceleration solution for the private line.
Through a thorough investigation of several brands’ network equipment, Mamee selected the SANGFOR integrated solution to solve the information problems outlined above.
Solution
Deployment

1. SANGFOR Internet Access Management (IAM) equipment. Controlling online behavior and dividing intranet users into groups has created a user group structure that is fully consistent with Mamee's administrative structure. The solution has restricted network bandwidth traffic based on the user or user group, application,type of website and time; Limit bandwidth for non-related work activities and guaranteed bandwidth for critical business applications. The solution also enables the comprehensive auditing and mass storage of online behavior logs via an external log data center. With a much more transparent network in place, logs can be accessed through the search function of IAM data center.

2. Deployment of SANGFOR SSL VPN equipment. To authenticate the users’ access to SSL VPN, to encrypt the channel to assess remote application system through the deployment of SANGFOR SSL VPN equipments and to conduct detailed audit on users' behaviors to access to the application systems through SSL VPN; the security before access, in the process of access and after access should be guaranteed. The SANGFOR SSL VPN equipment also applies a lot of speed optimization techniques to accelerate the access speed of remote users and to increase the access efficiency.

3. Deployment of SANGFOR WAN Optimization (WANO) equipment. Interactive data traffic between the head office and the branches is significantly reduced by the stream cache and stream compression realized by the WANO equipment. Data transmission and the application response times between the head office and branches are significantly shortened thanks to optimized transmission modules, for example, HTP, and TCP proxy; the application protocol proxy; and other optimized technologies of the WANO. Mamee increases the transmission speeds of the WAN without increasing bandwidth consumption through the deployment of the SANGFOR WANO equipment. This greatly reduces bandwidth investment and elevates work efficiency.

Benefits
Deployment of the SANGFOR IAM, SSL VPN, and WANO equipment further upgrades the information application value of Mamee:
The value of organization bandwidth is upgraded: The effective management (SANGFOR IAM) of Internet exportation avoids the low working efficiency of employees caused by lacking of network behavior management and the low efficiency of bandwidth usage, thus make the network bandwidth of organization serve the organization business more effectively;
The value of the business application system is upgraded: The business system application has been extended from the LAN to the WAN (SANGFOR SSL VPN), allowing employees secure and rapid remote access to the internal application system;
The value of WAN bandwidth is upgraded: The response time to access the application system and data transmission speeds have been greatly accelerated due to the optimization and acceleration (SANGFOR WANO) of WAN transmission. This makes the application effect of the WAN bandwidth dozens of times superior to the existing bandwidth.
